Frank Worrell
First Black cricketer appointed West Indies captain for a full series
Overview
One of the three Ws of Barbados with Everton Weekes and Clyde Walcott, Worrell was an elegant batsman who became West Indies captain in 1960. His team took part in the first tied Test at Brisbane in 1960 and won hearts across Australia, where the Frank Worrell Trophy is now contested. He was knighted in 1964 and died of leukaemia in 1967.
