Overview
The first ODI was arranged almost by accident in 1971 after rain washed out the Melbourne Test. The World Cup followed in 1975, colored clothing and white balls arrived widely by the 1992 World Cup, and totals climbed from 250 toward 400 in the modern era. It remains the format of the biggest global trophy.
