Overview
Australia won the first Test in 1877 by 45 runs, and remarkably the centenary Test of 1977 produced the same result by the same margin. Tests last up to five days with two innings per side and a minimum 90 overs a day. Twelve nations hold Test status, with Ireland and Afghanistan promoted in 2018.
