Sharjah became the neutral desert home of Pakistan and India cricket in the 1980s and 1990s, hosting famous Austral Asia Cup nights. Sachin Tendulkar played his Desert Storm innings against Australia here in April 1998. The small stadium has hosted over 240 one day internationals, a world record.
