Fred Trueman
First bowler to reach 300 Test wickets, in 1964
Overview
Fiery Fred from Yorkshire was the fast bowling spearhead of England through the 1950s and early 1960s. At the Oval in 1964 he became the first bowler in history to take 300 Test wickets and finished with 307. Blunt, funny and outspoken, he later became a well known broadcaster on BBC radio commentary.
