Overview
Crowe batted with a correctness rare in his era, scoring 5,444 Test runs at 45, including 299 run out against Sri Lanka at Wellington in 1991. As captain at the 1992 World Cup he reinvented tactics with pinch hitting openers. He died of cancer in 2016, mourned across the game.
